“Up for a ‘Fedal’ comeback!” Roger Federer THRILLED to team up with Rafael Nadal at the 2022 Laver Cup

It is now official that good friends and rivals- Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will once again be seen on the same side of the tennis court. Federer and Nadal will represent Team Europe at the 2022 Laver Cup in London. It was speculated since the last couple of days that this might happen and today, Laver Cup officially announced that ‘Fedal’ will be back in London.

Nadal is on a high right now after his historic Australian Open triumph while Federer is still under-recovery. And given their age, not many were expecting them to sign up for the mega event. But to everyone’s delight, both Federer and Nadal agreed to make time for the event.

Following the news break, Federer expressed his excitement to play alongside Nadal and revealed that during the last Laver Cup in Boston, Rafa texted him to play doubles in London. He added that he’s up for a ‘Fedal’ comeback.

“Rafa is an incredible person and an inspiration to me and countless others around the world. He messaged me on social media after the Laver Cup in Boston last year suggesting we play doubles in London and I am definitely up for a Laver Cup ‘Fedal’ comeback!” Federer said.

‘Rivals become Teammates!’ Federer-Nadal to play doubles once again

Nadal and Federer have been rivals for decades now and 2017 was the first and only time that the two maestros played doubles together. Their camaraderie, both on and off the court was loved by many and fans have been waiting ever since for the duo to play together for one more time. They won the only doubles match they played against Sam Querrey and Jack Sock in three sets.

This may also be the last time Federer and Nadal are seen on the same side of the court together given Federer’s age, which makes the 2022 Laver Cup even more special for both them as well as the fans.
