She reached the final without facing a top-ten opponent, with her best victories coming against Caroline Wozniacki in the third round and world number 12 Belinda Bencic in the semifinals. Serena Williams was once again her final opponent.

Andreescu defeated Williams in straight sets to win the title. She became the youngest teenager and the first Canadian tennis player to win a Grand Slam singles title since Maria Sharapova won the 2006 US Open.

Andreescu played Swiss Golubic in the first round, which she triumphed in three sets. She was to face Lauren Davis of the United States in the second round, whom she dominated in a straight set win. Despite having a decent season, the Canadian is regaining her form and striving for her second career grand slam. She’ll meet the Belgian Greet Minnen in her third round.

Greet Minnen of Belgium has progressed through the qualifying stages of the US Open 2021. She defeated world number 28 Nadia Podoroska in the second round. Minnen is competing in her maiden US Open and has progressed to the third round; she certainly appears to be a potential player. She’ll be up against Bianca Andreescu, a former US Open winner in her third round.
