Carlos Alcaraz created history by becoming the youngest ever to win the Miami Open and therefore, he has been appreciated and praised by peers and fans from all around the world. Recently former US Open champion Dominic Thiem also congratulated the youngster for this tremendous feat and lauded his performance in Miami.
Dominic Thiem, who is currently recovering from COVID-19 has remained updated with all the happenings in the tennis world. Recently he kept an eye on the young Spaniard creating magic on the court by defeating way better and more experienced players on his way to the Miami Open trophy.
Alcaraz is just 18-year-old and Thiem already believes that he is going to be the next superstar as he congratulated him on his first ever ATP 1000 Masters title. The Austrian was asked a question on Instagram about Carlos Alcaraz to which he shared his views on the Spaniard.
“Unbelievable player and I’m happy that we have a new superstar on the tour, and by the way, well done and congrats for Miami,” the 2020 US Open winner said on social media.
Thiem has been sidelined for some time now due to persistent injury concerns. He recently came back in action at the Marbella where he lost out in the first round against Argentina’s Pedro Cachin. He was then gearing up to feature at the Grand Prix Hassan II. But unfortunately, he contracted COVID-19 and had to withdraw from the tournament. Thiem is still preparing to make a proper comeback at the Roland Garros.

Alcaraz, who has been a sensation in Miami won his first ATP 1000 Masters title as he defeated Casper Ruud in the finals, who was also in his first ATP 1000 Masters finals. Alcaraz was trailing 4-1 in the first set when he decided to make a comeback to win the set 7-5. Once he got into his groove he made light work of the Norwegian in the second set by winning 6-4 to close out the finals against the new World No. 7.
Alcaraz became the youngest winner at the Miami Open breaking Novak Djokovic‘s record. He also ended the long running drought among Spanish players and the jinx of reaching the finals but not winning the event. While he is compared to Rafael Nadal, the 18-year-old now has the trophy that even the 21-time Grand Slam winner has not won to date.
However, Carlos Alcaraz will now be aiming for great things in his career as the clay court season is about to start Alcaraz should pick and choose his events properly. He has already set his goals of winning Grand Slams and nothing can be greater than this if he follows this up with a Roland Garros title. While it is still a little premature for the teen sensation, people can rule him out at their peril.
