Cameron Norrie is right on top of his game at present. The 25-year old Brit has made it to the third round of every Grand Slam in 2021 and is consistently racking up wins against some world class players. Moreover, Norrie is at a career high ranking of 34 in the men’s singles right now.
Having said that, Norrie couldn’t get the better of 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer in the Round of 32 of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Nevertheless, Norrie should be proud of the way he has played in the past year or so, and a slice of credit also goes to the coach of Norrie who has improved his game immensely. Coaches of Cameron Norrie: A Few Insights
Currently Norrie is being mentored by two coaches – James Trotman and Facundo Lugones – both of whom joined the Brit in 2017, the same year he turned professional. Trotman is a British tennis player who retired early from tennis due to ongoing injuries. As a junior player he was world class and won 1995 Wimbledon Championships boys doubles with Martin Lee and 1997 Australian Open boys doubles with David Sherwood. On the other hand, Lugones was a professional tennis player who represented Argentina on the ATP Tour.
Before Norrie became professional, he had a three-year stint with Devin Bowen and David Roditi. While Bowen was a former American professional tennis player, a doubles specialist, Roditi was a former tennis player from Mexico.
It’s needless to say that Norrie throughout his career has been associated with excellent coaches that have improved his game by leaps and bounds. It will be exciting to see whether Norrie will surpass the challenge of Federer on the hallowed grass courts of the Wimbledon.
