Polish tennis sensation Iga Swiatek has been one of the brightest stars on the WTA Tour. A Wimbledon junior champion in 2018, Swiatek turned Pro in 2016. Despite a shaky start, she quickly picked up pace reaching her maiden WTA final at the 2019 Ladies Open in Lugano. While she was unfortunate to lose out on the title, it certainly did boost her confidence.
Swiatek’s maiden title came in the form of the 2020 French Open. She became one of the youngest champions at the tournament. Swiatek also won Poland its maiden Grand Slam singles title while becoming the lowest-ranked player to win the French Open since rankings started. She did not drop a single set during the fortnight in Paris and dropped second lowest games in the history of French Open champions only behind Steffi Graf.
Swiatek would go on to win the 2022 French Open as well, her second Major title. She added the 2022 US Open title as well to her trophy cabinet later that season. Following Ash Barty‘s sudden retirement, Swiatek became the World No. 1 on 4th April and held it till the end of the season. During the season, she also won 37 consecutive matches, the longest winning streak in the 21st century and one of the longest ever in history.

Who is Iga Swiatek’s coach Tomasz Wiktorowski?
While Iga Swiatek was initially coached by Michał Kaznowski, she later brought on Piotr Sierzputowski. He remained her coach from 2016 to the end of 2021. The exact reason for their split was not disclosed although Swiatek did express her sadness after their split.
Following Sierzputowski’s dismissal, Swiatek brought on Tomasz Wiktorowski as her head coach going into the 2022 season. Born on 10th January 1981, Wiktrowski was a famed coach in the Polish tennis circle. He earlier coached former World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska from 2011 to 2018. The Polish coach was also a junior player himself before becoming Captain of the Polish team at the 2009 Fed Cup.
Wiktorowski’s addition to Swiatek’s coaching setup was a big boost for the Pole. Swiatek finished the 2022 season with a 67-9 record having a winning percentage of 88.2. She won eight titles that included two Grand Slam singles titles, four WTA-1000 titles, and two WTA-500 titles. She lost just one final during the season, conceding the 2022 Ostrava Open title to Barbora Krejcikova. Swiatek also marched to 15 Top-10 wins during the season.
Wiktorowski has not been much public about his personal life. He is however known to have married in 2016 to his wife Joanna. Other details about his family have not been made public.
