Petra Marcinko is a Croatian professional tennis player. She was born on 4th December, 2005 in Zagreb, Croatia. Her rank in singles according to the Women’s Tennis Association is World No.925 and her highest ranking was World No.902. Her rank in doubles is World No.967 and her highest ranking was World No.945.
Marčinko has nine singles titles on the ITF Junior Circuit to her name, apart from this she also has seven doubles title. She earned her career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 1 on 13 December 2021. In October 2021 in Cape Town, South Africa Marčinko won a singles title by defeating American tennis star Clervie Ngounoue. The player along with Denmark’s Johanne Christine Svendsen knocked out Czechs Brenda Fruhvirtová and Barbora Palicová in the final.
In December 2021, Marcinko completed a remarkable late-season surge as singles and doubles victories at the prestigious Orange Bowl Junior Tennis Championships which saw her climb nine places to finish the year with a ranking of junior World No 1.
Petra Marcinko’s Australian Open Journey
Petra played the opening round of Australian Open 2022 against Alexis Blokhina and won with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. In the round of 32 she won against Kayla Cross and then defeated Denislava Glushkova in the round of 16. The star then played the quarter finals where she won against Lola Radivojevic with a score of 7-5, 6-2. She then defeated Liv Hovde in the semifinals and made her way towards the finals. In the finals she played against Sofia Costoulas and knocked her out with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
