The defending champion at the tournament this year, Iga Swiatek had made a fantastic start to her campaign this year as she reaches the quarter-finals without dropping a single set. Iga defeated Daria Saville in the first round beating the Australian 6-3, 6-3 before she dashed past Leylah Fernandez 6-1, 6-2 to move into the last-8.

Victoria Azarenka has begun her 2022 season on a strong note as the former World No. 1 makes it two wins out of two. She defeated her doubles partner Paula Badosa in the first round, defeating the Spaniard 6-3, 6-2 and then beat Australian Priscilla Hon 6-3, 7-5 to enter the quarter-finals in search of her first tile since August 2020 when she won the Cincinnati Open.

Iga will come into the tie with a career hardcourt record of 51-23 and was 18-10 on the surface last season while she finished the 2021 season with a record of 36-15 across all surfaces. Victoria will take the court with a career hardcourt record of 344-112 and was 18-6 on the surface last season and had a 28-9 record for the season across all surfaces.

Looking at these numbers and considering their form in the 2021 season and in the two matches so far this week, it will be a tight affair that could swing either way. While it is difficult to predict an outright winner, Iga might just nick the match as she will be extra motivated for her title defence and to level scores with Azarenka in the head-to-head.

Match Prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in 3-sets.
