Varvara Gracheva vs Petra Martic: Preview

Talking about the form coming into the tournament, the unseeded Gracheva hasn’t done anything of notice. The 20-year old Russian didn’t even make it to the main draw of recently concluded Madrid Open.
On the other hand, Martic has played some impressive tennis this week. The 30-year old Croat looked in great touch before eventually losing out to Karolina Pliskova 1-6, 6-3, 2-6 in the semifinals of the Italian Open. Going by her form, it would be a shame if Martic doesn’t make it to the final in Parma.
Varvara Gracheva vs Petra Martic: Head to Head

Prior to their meeting tomorrow, the two players have faced each other twice, with Martic coming out triumphant on both occasions. So Martic leads the head-to-head record 2-0. They last met at last year’s US Open in a Round of 32 clash, where the Croat dished out a clinical performance to dismiss Gracheva in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Varvara Gracheva vs Petra Martic: Prediction

As mentioned above it would be a real shame if Martic doesn’t turn out to be one of the two finalists. So it’s a no-brainer that the World No.25 should win this contest without a fuss. However, Gracheva has nothing to lose and so she she can go out all guns blazing, causing a few jitters to her opponent.
Match Prediction: Petra Martic defeats Varvara Gracheva comprehensively in straight sets.
