WTA Parma 2021: The likes of 1st-seed Serena Williams and others will want to fine tune their game ahead of the all-important French Open 2021 when they square off in the WTA 250 Parma Open 2021. Though the tournament is not filled with star players, it is significant considering that Roland Garros is just two weeks away.
Without further ado, let us look at which players feature in the tournament, what are their chances and the matches to watch out for.

Top Half
The top half includes both the Williams sisters, who have been given a wildcard, along with their compatriot and 3rd-seed Cori Gauff, 5th-seed Amanda Anisimova and 8th-seed Caroline Garcia.
Despite looking rusty at the recently concluded Italian Open where she got knocked out in the second round itself, expect Serena to reach the last-eight stage without a fuss. There she may run into Garcia, who at her day can give the very best the run for their money.
On the other hand, Gauff should make it to the quarterfinals and would most probably face Anisimova, until Venus Williams spoils her party.

Bottom Half
Bottom half is a tricky one as some unseeded players like veteran Sara Errani, giant killer Hsieh Su-Wei and former US Open winner Sloane Stephens can really cause a few upsets. The bottom half also includes 2nd-seed Petra Martic, 4th-seed Daria Kasatkina and 6th-seed Wang Qiang.
The third quarterfinal could witness an unseeded affair as Errani and Su-Wei can make it to the last -eight stage, though it is the most competitive quarter of the tournament and it won’t be a surprise if someone else reaches the quarterfinal.
On the other hand, the line-up of quarterfinal should conclude with Qiang and Martic booking the date as there are little chances of any upset in this quarter.

Quarterfinals
The first quarterfinal can be a blockbuster one where Serena will be needing her all her experience of she has to make to the last-four stage as Garcia’s game gets a notch higher everytime she plays on clay. While, Gauff should complete the first semifinal lineup, though her match against Anisimova too could get tricky.
In the other half, Hsieh Su-Wei should maintain her impressive run and make it to the semifinals, where she might square off against Martic, who is expected to emerge victorious against Qiang.

The first semifinal could turn out to be the match of the tournament, where Serena might just topple her counterpart Gauff in what can be an edge-of-a-seat encounter. On the other hand, Su-Wei’s giant killing spree could come to an end as Martic should be the other finalist.

The final between the top two seeds may not match the intensity of the first semifinal, though it can be a topsy-turvy contest. Serena is coming from a hiatus and all know that clay is not her preferred surface, so Martic will have an edge over her and she might as well end up as the champion.
