Nadia Podoroska vs Ana Konjuh : Preview
Nadia Podoroska has not been in great form this season. She started the season making to quarter-finals of the Yarra Valley Classic 2021 in Australia but hasn’t been able to reach another quarter-finals until now. She comes to Belgrade from the WTA Italian Open 2021, where she defeated former World No. 1 Serena Williams in straight sets.
Her success was not long as she was knocked out in the next round in 3-sets that ended her Italian Open campaign. She comes into the tie from a 3-set win in the first round and a straight set victory in the Round of 16.
Ana Konjuh has had a busy season this year playing both the WTA and ITF tournaments, however she’s yet to win a title this year. Her best performance came at the WTA Istanbul Open 2021 where she made it till the quarter-finals.
She comes to the Serbian Open from the WTA Madrid Open 2021 where she was knocked out in the 2nd qualifying round failing to reach the main draw. Similar to Nadia, she comes into the tie with a 3-set win in the first round followed by a straight-set victory in the 2nd.
Nadia Podoroska vs Ana Konjuh : Head to Head
This will be the first ever meeting between the duo, hence the head-to-head stands at 0-0.
Nadia Podoroska vs Ana Konjuh : Prediction
Nadia has played majority of her career matches on the Clay with the 2019 season being the only one where her she failed to win more than 50% of her matches. Since the last 2 seasons, she is 29-7 in the matches played on Clay. Ana has not been a great fan of the Clay and has not played much on the surface. Since the last season, she is 14-3 on Clay.
Nadia would have the edge over Ana due to her greater experience on the court and slight better form as compared to Ana in the last few matches.
Prediction: Nadia Podoroska to win in 3-sets.
