The 25-year-old German will be looking to put behind him a disappointing Wimbledon, in which he lost to Felix Auger Aliassime in the Round of 16 in a thrilling 5 setter which finished 4-6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3, 4-6. He also lost the Round of 16 clash in the Halle Open, a tournament in which he was seeded number 3. Zverev has, however started the Games on a strong note, brushing off Yen Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. The German dropped only four games against Lu Yen-hsun on Sunday to advance to the second round with ease.
Colombian Galan, making his first appearance in the Olympic Games, emerged victorious with a straight-sets win of 7-5, 6-1 over Egypt’s Mohamed Safwat earlier on Sunday to book his place in the second round. His best result this year has come on the Challenger tour, reaching the final at the Heilbronn Challenger.

Gold medal hopeful Alexander is the clear favourite and will be expecting nothing less than an easy victory against the 113 ranked Galan on his way to the final, which he will have to reach having 20-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, newlywed Gael Monfils and rising star Andrey Rublev in the same half of the draw as him.
