At the 2021 Australian Open in February, Llyod Harris made it to the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time. Zverev advanced to the semifinals of the Olympics by defeating Yen-hsun Lu, Daniel Elahi Galán, Nikoloz Basilashvili, and Jérémy Chardy. Despite being down a set and a break in the semifinals, Zverev fought to break back and win eight games in a row to defeat world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in three sets. He won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after defeating Karen Khachanov in straight sets in the final.
