World No.6 Alexander Zverev will once again face Kei Nishikori after facing him twice last month at Madrid and Rome. After surving the first round scare, Zverev has been playing very well all tournament. He defeated Russian Roman Safiullin in the second round in straight sets and then played very well against Clay courter Laslo Djere in the third round. He defeated the Serb in straight sets 6-2,7-5,6-2.
As for his opponent Kei Nishikori, he had to battle very hard in the first two matches. In the first round, he was pushed to 5 sets by Italian qualifier Alessandro Giannessi and then again in the second round, he got the better of 23rd seed Karen Khachanov in a five set marathon 4-6,6-2,2-6,6-4,6-4. His third round encounter against Henri Laaksonen was a rather short one as the Swiss retired after losing the first set 5-7.
