The Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios‘ career has been hampered by a lot of injuries. The flurry of injuries has forced the 28-year-old to stay away from the court. Kyrgios was all set to make a comeback in the 2024 Australian Open. However, last week Kyrgios announced on his new OnlyFans account that he is withdrawing from the mega event as he has still not recovered completely from the injury.
In a position of uncertainty, the Australian’s career is stacked up and not moving forward. Owing to this uncertainty, the 28-year-old has dropped some hints of his retirement. In the podcast with Jay Shetty, Kyrgios revealed various perspectives of his life.
However, the major talking point of the podcast is when Kyrgios said that he feels like a ‘circus animal’ when playing in packed stadiums. Owing to this, Kyrgios would be playing just one or two more years after making a comeback in the tours. The Australian also urged his fans that they should be ready to accept his decision to not play anymore.
Daniel Horsfall, the manager of the Australian star, has also opened up about these comments.
I think that clip was from Jay Shetty's podcast. Nick got really open and emotional with Jay, and I guess he visited some past demons. But for sure, all those things that he said like exhaustion, injuries or surgeries. It's all true, but, you know, he's going to soldier on, he feels like he's got a lot more to give.Daniel Horsfall on Thursday via express.co.uk
What’s the future for Nick Kyrgios?
The career of Nick Kyrgios has been filled with controversies and blatantness. The Australian star has landed in trouble for his reactionary statements in the media. However, there is no doubt that he is one of the most talented tennis players of his generation.
The Australian gave some superb performances before the injury scarred his career. Kyrgios reached the quarterfinals of the US Open and made it to the finals of a major Grand Slam for the first time in his career in Wimbledon 2022. The 28-year-old lost to the eventual winner of the event Novak Djokovic. Kyrgios is also one of the very few players to have victories against all the members of the ‘Big Three’.
It’s still not announced by Kyrgios when he is going to make a return to the court. He had said earlier that the ‘stars need to align’ for him to come back. The tennis world will hope that the Wimbledon finalist makes a swashbuckling return to the court in the next season.
