Dominic Thiem can stop Novak Djokovic in surpassing Roger Federer’s record: Former TOP 10
US Open 2020 titlist Dominic Thiem with his astounding performance, has evidently risen as a player who can blitz the dominion if the Big Three- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, the ones ruling over the sport through the past decade.
However, though the Austrian’s achievement can be a threat for Serbian Legend and King of Clay, it is believed to be the other way round for the Swiss maestro, who can secure his 20 Grand Slam record for a little longer.
He is indeed a great champion: Rosset hails Thiem
Asserting the belief, Former Swiss Olympic gold medalist Marc Rosset hailed the 27-year-old champion in his rather controversial blog and stated him to be Federer’s best hope for keeping his record longer.
“In short, we will only remember the name of the winner and it is, therefore, Dominic Thiem,” Rosset wrote in his blog.
“Bravo to him anyway. He deserves this title and he flew over the tournament before his initial crack in the final,” he added.

He also considered Thiem to be Andy Murray’s mirror in challenging the World No. 1 in hardcourts and Rafa on clay.
“The one who can become the Andy Murray of the 2020s finally defeats the Indian sign (curse/bad luck) and we are counting on him to continue his momentum and confirm that he is indeed a great champion by going on to defeat Nadal and Djokovic on their surfaces,” Rosset continued.
Finally, remarking on Thiem being the best bet for Federer, the Swiss wrote, “Let’s be honest: the Austrian is Roger Federer’s best ally today,” Rosset added further. “If the Master hopes to keep some of his records, he will have to count on Thiem in the next few years,” he added.
By aceing further titles against the Serb and the Spaniard, the Austrian will provide a win-win situation both ways, on one hand by increasing his own Grand Slam tally and on the other by protecting the Swiss Master’s highly threatened tally.
