On Friday, the United Football League kicked off its second season. The St. Louis Battlehawks and the Houston Roughnecks teed off at the Space City Financial Stadium in an opener that drew a touch over 7,000 fans. The league’s part-owner, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was scheduled to be present in person, but a flight malfunction derailed those plans.
Consequently, the 52-year-old took to his socials and issued a heartfelt apology to the fans, the UFL staff & coaches, and most importantly, the players. Johnson was super bummed for not having fulfilled the commitment that he made. However, there was nothing he could have done to fix the failed hydraulics of the private jet he was on.
The Great One recalled the pilot getting down on one of his knees and explaining why they couldn’t continue the flight. At the time, Johnson’s crew was flying over the ocean with about 35 to 40 minutes into their journey. However, the pilot named David cited overheating as the root cause for the hydraulic issue they’d gotten into.
Super bummed I can’t be in Texas but so grateful we were able to land the plane safely.

As a result, the jet was turned around to land back in Hawaii. Dwayne expressed gratitude to the pilot for ensuring his well-being, but he was visibly under the pump for not making it to Houston for getting the 2025 UFL season up and running. A handful of WWE fans were expecting him to be in London for SmackDown. However, he already had a lot on his plate for that to happen.
Is The Rock’s WWE absence hurting John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes?
Even though The Rock was the centerpiece of one of the biggest heel turns in WWE history, featuring John Cena, the Black Adam star has almost no-sold it since the Elimination Chamber. When these Hollywood moguls went low on Cody Rhodes alongside Travis Scott, it came across as the most diabolical beatdown of all time.

Since the PLE in Toronto, the fans have been highly underwhelmed by what they’ve seen as the follow-up. The Cenation Leader has trashed the WWE Universe in the two Raw appearances he’s made. The man he’s opposing at WrestleMania, Rhodes, has clapped back as he’s supposed to do.
But again, the fans are made to feel that Rock isn’t a part of the story. When, in turn, he’s the driving force behind all of this. The upcoming episode of Raw in London is the last European stop before WrestleMania. After not having John and Cody going back-and-forth on the mic, it might finally be on the cards.
They’re scheduled to be face-to-face for the third straight week. Is this where The Rock gets inserted back into their feud? It needs to be seen. With the two-night wrestling spectacle in Vegas still having twenty-odd days to spare, the fans are hoping to explore the alliance between Cena and Rock.
Which WWE Superstar has asked The Rock to do him a favor?
Outside of being a Final Boss of WWE, The Rock has let everyone know loud and clear that he’s also the director of the TKO board. If that tells anything, he’s the supreme authority. Being well versed in it, Drew McIntyre does have something up his sleeve directly concerning the Black Adam star.

The Scot has mentioned in recent interviews that Rock is working on a favor that he asked of him. But there’s no lead on what could it mean. At one point, the fans thought that McIntyre could sell out to The Brahma Bull. However, that opportunity was gobbled up by John Cena.
Drew seems excited about whatever he’s getting out of Rock. The latter has always been kind to The Scottish Psychopath. Despite being a Bloodline opposer, McIntyre doesn’t have issues with Johnson, who’s all but linked to the Bloodline.
