This Wednesday, Moana 2 will be up in theaters. Being released a day shy of Thanksgiving, the animated musical adventure film sees Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, as Maui and Auli’i Cravalho as Moana, in reprising roles. Johnson was in Hawaii for the world premiere of his movie, where he caught up with Entertainment Tonight. Did he recently ask Taylor Swift for a favor? He did.
The 52-year-old actor first put emphasis on Swift’s popularity in his household, along with Beyonce. Rock further added that his daughters Tiana and Jasmine were pumped up to hear their part in Moana 2 as they’ve lent their voices in the sequel. Later in the interview, Dwayne revealed that he recently arranged some tickets for Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour for one of his friends.
The part-time WWE Superstar said he rang Swift up, and she made it happen. Despite being hesitant to ask for favors like that, Johnson did it anyway. He affirmed that he’s quite bad at it. The Great One appreciated the 14-time Grammy Award winner for her kindness. When it comes to taking care of his loved ones, no one does it better than The Rock.
A viral video from Moana 2’s red carpet event saw the UFL owner spending quality time with his mother, Ata Johnson. They danced to a Samoan hymn that was being played by the area’s locals. On that note, the Black Adam star would manifest for a grand opening to Moana 2.
Its trailer was a prohibitive success. Johnson’s Christmas season release, Red One, has managed to breach the $50 million mark in the US & Canada, whereas it amassed around $117 million worldwide. The film’s reported budget was $250 million, not including another $100 million of marketing expenses.
Sneak peek into The Rock’s initial look from Moana’s live-action sets
In what is going to be the third installment in the Moana franchise, the live-action adaptation of the 2016-released Moana is in its early filming stages. The shooting began last week off the coast of Oahu in Hawaii.
A leaked photo from the sets spotted The Rock donning the Maui look, wearing a gigantic bodysuit. Set for a July 2026 release, this acting venture of The People’s Champ hasn’t sat well with the netizens. While that may forever be contentious, the entire WWE Universe is awaiting the return of their Final Boss.
Rumors suggest that he might show up on WWE TV as soon as the Netflix premiere of Raw on January 6. After that, he’s also slated for a match at WrestleMania 41, which, if it happens, would be his second in a row.
