The Rock and American singer-songwriter Chris Janson recently gave an interview with Entertainment Tonight. The two are collaborating on a music video, ‘Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get’. During the interview and in a post later made on X, the 52-year-old talked about the importance of country music for him and the connection with his dad.
The Rock and Janson both got highly emotional during the interview. The musician can be seen wiping away tears from his face, with The Great One soon to join him. The Hollywood Superstar said that the last thing the two of them expected was to start crying like two little babies.
Dwayne Johnson talked about his love for country music and how it went way beyond the music itself. It represented human connections for him. Country music was how he bonded with his dad, whom he lost in 2020. He would often find his dad listening to the music while sitting in the backseat of his car. Rocky Johnson would travel across different states due to his career as a professional wrestler.
Janson mentioned that he wanted The Rock to sing alongside him on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, one of the biggest country music concerts. While he refused then, the wrestler-turned-actor mentioned that he would love to join him on that stage one day. However, he would surely require a few shots of tequila for that to happen. Janson revealed that he hoped for them to collaborate soon, and would dedicate the night to Rocky Johnson.
Dave Meltzer claims that The Rock returned to the WWE due to his failing Hollywood career
Fans were surprised to see how invested The Rock seemed in the world of professional wrestling since his return in February. His social media accounts were filled with WWE promos and advertisements. Moreover, he was appearing on Raw or SmackDown nearly every week. Additionally, he even fought Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes alongside Roman Reigns in a tag-team match that lasted 40+ minutes, taking severe bumps in the process.

According to Dave Meltzer, many people in WWE believe that The People’s Champion’s transition to professional wrestling only came as a result of his failing Hollywood career. The third season of Young Rock, a TV show based on the Great One’s life, recently got canceled. Additionally, his recent movies have failed to turn a profit. His reshaping of the Black Adam character was also a bust.
Meltzer added that when the TKO Group offered The Brahma Bull $30 million to join the board of directors, it was an offer he couldn’t refuse, especially given the current status of his career. Moreover, he was also interested in having a dream match with Roman Reigns. While the initial plan was WrestleMania XL, WWE was forced to pivot at the last moment.
