John Cena’s legendary 23-year WWE career is nearing its final chapter, with his farewell match scheduled for December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. His ongoing retirement tour has already given fans plenty to celebrate, though many still debate his shocking heel turn at Elimination Chamber.

A large section of the WWE Universe blames The Rock for what they see as a failed experiment that temporarily tarnished Cena’s image. For those who may have missed it, Dwayne Johnson played a key role in Cena’s dark transformation earlier this year, convincing him to turn on Cody Rhodes. Cena would then go on to win his record-breaking 17th World Championship at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

However, the moment fell flat for many. Johnson was absent from the show, while Travis Scott’s interference led to an underwhelming main event conclusion on Night 2. Fans have always viewed Cena as the embodiment of WWE’s ultimate hero, and his recent return to his babyface roots has been met with universal praise.

His five-star rematch with Rhodes at SummerSlam and his instant classic against AJ Styles at Crown Jewel proved that he can still deliver at the highest level. But there could be another twist in the story, especially after The Rock recently hinted that he has some influence in Cena’s retirement match booking.

Appearing on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Johnson was asked about Cena’s final opponent. And it seems that ‘The Final Boss’ will indeed have something to do with his former adversary’s swansong.

I have a tiny bit of influence in the booking of it. But really, it’s just, it’s whoever John wants. Really, that’s what it comes down to. Whoever he wants. It’s not me or Nick Khan, or Triple H. It’s just, it’s whoever John wants.

It is a known fact by now that Johnson firmly sits on the Board of Directors for TKO, which happens to be WWE’s parent company. However, The Rock took a moment to hand Cena his flowers, praising both his legacy and his character over the last two decades.

The best part about John is he comes as advertised. So who you think he is, that’s who he is. And he’s a good dude. And I love that guy. No, he’s a good dude, man. And kind. He’s really cool.

While WWE has yet to make an official announcement, reports suggest that Cena’s final opponent will be Gunther. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is considering holding an on-screen tournament to determine Cena’s challenger, with the former 2-time World Champion expected to emerge victorious and headline what could be one of the most emotional nights in WWE history.

The Rock sheds light on his most iconic WWE insult of all time

Going back to The Rock, the third-generation WWE legend made his debut in 1996, and within just seven years, he had become arguably the biggest superstar in professional wrestling history. While his impressive in-ring resume helped cement his legacy, what truly set him apart was his unmatched charisma on the microphone

Dubbed ‘The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment,’ Johnson built his legend through unforgettable promos, quick wit, and razor-sharp insults that left both his rivals and the audience in stitches. His verbal exchanges with names like Triple H, Chris Jericho, and Jonathan Coachman remain some of the most iconic moments in WWE history.

Recently, Johnson revealed which of his countless legendary insults stands out as his personal favorite. During his appearance on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, The Rock was asked about his most memorable war of words.

Instead of naming a past promo, he decided to deliver it live on the show. And this time, he used the Kansas City Chiefs as his target. When the TKO board member asked who would win the Super Bowl, Travis confidently replied and named the Chiefs as his pick.

Gotta be the Kansas City Chiefs. Well, The Rock says, you take your opinion that it’s gotta be the Kansas City Chiefs, you roll that sonofa b**ch sideways, and stick it straight up your candy a*s.

The studio erupted in laughter, but The Rock wasn’t done yet. He reflected on the origin of one of his most famous insults, recalling how his WWE colleagues were taken aback by it. He explained that telling someone to stick something up their a*s is already an insult, but by “turning it sideways,” it elevated the line to an entirely new level of impact and memorability.
