Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hits back at allegations of throwing Triple H under the bus after ditching WrestleMania 41
It seems like the accruing criticisms stemming from The Rock's WrestleMania absence have started to get under his skin.

Dwayne Johnson, widely known to his wrestling audience as The Rock, no-showed at WrestleMania this year. Amid growing frustrations over the Hollywood mogul snubbing WWE’s Super Bowl, The Great One has something to say. Recently, famed wrestling critic Dave LeGreca ranted about Rock’s WrestleMania absence on his Busted Open Radio podcast.
The former Impact Wrestling figure accused the Black Adam star of throwing WWE CCO Triple H under the bus. Dave took offense with Rock claiming on The Pat McAfee Show that he would’ve done things differently in regard to the ending of WrestleMania Sunday. Johnson responded to LaGreca on Instagram, saying that the pro wrestling business is completely a work.
For the unversed, in wrestling jargon, “work” translates to something that is planned. Dwayne further invited the dissonant LaGreca to join creative discussions with him, Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Brian Gewirtz, and the rest of those in charge so that his perspective grows further. It didn’t go unnoticed by the fans that The Final Boss avoided including Triple H in his post when he’s the leading creative force behind the main roster storylines in WWE.

Does that further solidify that Rock and Hunter have some trouble in paradise behind the scenes? Those Fightful spoke to within the company have claimed that even if the two former on-screen rivals are actually beefing, the roster is unaware of it. Also, a number of WWE talent were baffled by the fact that The Brahma Bull almost never promoted WrestleMania 41.
There were a number of WWE talent who brought up that The Rock wasn’t referenced, but said that if there were issues with he and Triple H as the world has speculated, it hasn’t made it to the rest of the roster yet.

Did WWE need The Rock to play his part at WrestleMania 41?
The moment John Cena sold out to The Rock at the Elimination Chamber PLE, there was growing optimism among the fans that they’d get to see the two Hollywood actors pair up on WWE television through WrestleMania. However, not once did they appear together since orchestrating Cena’s shocking heel turn in Toronto.

Neither of the men has cared enough to explain the nature of their relationship, which doesn’t bode well for the future. On WrestleMania Sunday, John received the backing of Travis Scott, who was eventually wiped out by Cody Rhodes. It served as a receipt for Scott, as he’d legitimately injured The American Nightmare in their previous meeting.
However, since Cody took his eye off the bullet, Cena wasted little time to pull the trigger. The Cenation Leader pinned his so-called chauffeur to become a 17-time WWE Champion, an unprecedented feat. In hindsight, Cena vs. Rhodes fell way short of its promised grandeur.

The majority of the fans believe that The Rock was needed to accentuate the closing stretch of that heavily-touted dream match. But what was Johnson’s reason for not being there? He wanted the spotlight on Cena and Rhodes and therefore decided to take a step back, as Rock told Pat McAfee on the Wednesday after WrestleMania.
The Rock’s appearance at Elimination Chamber was allegedly a panic button for WWE
In yet another contentious anecdote from The Rock‘s appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the TKO board member asserted that Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel requested him to appear at Elimination Chamber in Canada as the ticket sales for the show were lagging.

The 52-year-old further said that he pitched the entire ‘selling of the soul’ story involving Cody Rhodes. The Attitude Era doyen went on record to say that he told both Cody Rhodes and John Cena after Elimination Chamber that his work was done.
The Rock says that TKO CEO, Ari Emanuel called him for help because ticket sales for Elimination Chamber were slow, and wanted something must-see.

He came up with the whole “sell your soul” idea for Cody Rhodes, then Triple H suggested John Cena.

Elsewhere in the McAfee interview, Dwayne Johnson teased that he might revisit the ‘soul’ storyline down the road. However, citing other commitments, the Jumanji actor has basically confirmed that he may not be back in WWE for a long time. Rock already has a crime mafia thriller to act in, which would be directed by Martin Scorsese.
