Cris Cyborg one of the most dominant women in MMA history made her first title defense against Arlene Blencowe in the main event of Bellator 249. Cyborg added a new twist in a carrier full of them, and she added this one by scoring her first submission victory in 26 pro bouts. She choked out Blencowe in the 2nd round of the match.

Cyborg was very happy with her title defense she tweeted after the fight, “Don’t call it a comeback I’ve been here for years!”. Cyborg has faced defeat only one time in her career against the two-division UFC Champion Amanda Nunes. She is still ranked number three in the UFC pound-to-pound rankings for women while Nunes is on the first rank.

The Bellator Women’s champion played exceptionally well in this fight, she hurt Blencowe in the first round, and in the second round, she took her to the mat and scored a victory by a rear-naked choke from the back.

Before signing the contract with Bellator, Cyborg was one of the most successful women fighters in UFC. She holds the UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship and defended it two times. First against Holly Holm at UFC 219, and another time against Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222.

She finally lost her title in the fight against the most successful woman in UFC Amanda Nunes. Cyborg is the only MMA fighter in history, to become a grand slam champion, holding world championship across four major martial arts promotion.

Cyborg made her last UFC appearance at UFC 240 where she won the fight against Felicia Spencer by the unanimous decision of the judges. After that, she signed the contract with Bellator MMA as her UFC contract ended. In Bellator 238 she defeated Julia Budd and became the Bellator Women’s Featherweight Champion.
