On the Netflix premiere of Raw, The Undertaker came out on his motorbike to endorse Rhea Ripley after she had just regained the women’s world title. The fans in attendance ate it up and something that they’d cherish for long. Taker, however, offered a different perspective on it while speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast.
At first, the WWE HOF’er wasn’t even scheduled for the segment. However, a change of plans saw him ending up in the same frame as Rhea. The 59-year-old Texan wasn’t originally high on cutting Ripley off whilst she was still out there celebrating. But after he learned that WWE wanted him to give The Eradicator a rub, Taker was cool with it.
The Deadman also explained why he remains quite reticent about appearing on WWE programming these days. As per the former World Champion, the company needs to hone its current pool of stars to a point where it’s not necessary to resort to the legends of the past.
The less the fans see old-timers hogging the limelight, the better it’d be for WWE. He elucidated that even though the nostalgia acts do great, they impact the ongoing stories negatively. The Phenom claimed he’s never been a fan of partaking in reunion shows, which were a regular occurrence during the Vince McMahon era.
Undertaker recently admitted to Triple H that he doesn’t want to be used too often on-air. The Phenom didn’t rule out future WWE gigs, but only if they make sense. A prime example of which is what he did at WrestleMania XL. Taker interfered in Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title to chokeslam The Rock.
What does The Undertaker think of WWE’s current state?
WWE is a way better space creatively than it was not that long ago, and that’s something The Undertaker often raves about. He’s one of those rare veterans of the game who still keeps up with the current product.
Which is why he didn’t shy away from educating Donald Trump on who’s ruling the roost in WWE today. A few months ago, The Deadman had the 47th POTUS on his podcast. As Trump grew inquisitive about whether there are any recognizable faces in WWE at the moment, Taker was quick to name the likes of Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.
The Lord of Darkness has been pretty vocal about harboring a soft spot for The Ring General. Taker previously claimed that he’d have drawn a lot of money with the Austrian if they had wrestled together.
