One of the most iconic Wrestlemania, in the history of WWE is undoubtedly Wrestlemania 14. Fans believe that this PPV marked the beginning of the Attitude Era. Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Shawn Michaels at the event to win the WWE Championship. This moment is considered to be the beginning of the Attitude Era.

But, the outcome of the event might not be the same had the Texas Rattlesnake failed to win the match. Fans might remember that Michaels was facing a lot of personal issues around the time of this PPV. As a result, it was feared that Michaels would not be ready to give up his title, as planned.

Undertaker was prepared to beat up Michaels

The Undertaker ecently appeared on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s show “Broken Skulls Sessions”. On the show Taker opened up about this incident. Taker mentioned that he was legitimately ready to beat up Michaels, in case he diverted from the plan. 

Taker mentioned that Michaels was not in the mindset to wrestle that night. But Taker koved the company enough to prevent Michael from doing something stupid and hurting WWE.

I had taped my hands up. If Shawn had not done business, there would have been an appearance by the Undertaker that night. Somehow or another, that belt was going to get switched, and I was going to do what I had to do to make sure that happened because there was so much riding on that.”

Taker mentioned that he had his hands taped. He was prepared to walk out to the ring and attack Michael if he deviated from the plan. But Michaels stuck to the plan and put over the Texas Rattlesnake.

Taker mentioned on the show that Michaels asked him whether this story was true. Michaels doubted that Taker could do something of this sort. Taker just lied to Michaels that it was a made up story. Over the years, Michaels and Taker have become great friends and also shared a great professional relationship.

Michaels and Taker were last seen on WWE on Survivor Series. Taker announced his retirement at the event, and Michaels was present as a friend to support him.
