“The Welsh Dragon” – Mason Jones signs with UFC
Looks like the UFC roster is getting stronger day by day, as two division Cage Warriors champion, Mason Jones recently signed with UFC. The fighter from Wales, who is unbeaten in his professional MMA career, was the lightweight and welterweight Cage Warriors champion when he made his switch to the UFC. He will be looking forward to continuing the same in the UFC as well.
The news was confirmed by Mason Jones himself via Instagram, saying that it was a dream come true for him. Although it is not clear when he will be making his debut, one thing is for sure – we will be very soon seeing the “Welsh Dragon” in the octagon.
“The moment when my dream became a reality” – Mason Jones on joining the UFC
Mason Jones captioned the post, saying, “Friday October 9th I signed a 4 fight contract with @ufc the biggest & best mma organization in the world. The moment when my dream became a reality. Big thanks to my coaching team & @graham_boylan for everything.”
Mason Jones, won the Cage Warriors lightweight title against Joe McGolgan and went on to win the welterweight title as well, in the month of September, after defeating Adam Proctor. In the post fight interview, after beating Proctor, Mason Jones sent out a stern warning to the UFC saying, “I’ve got a challenge for Dana White, for Sean Shelby, for anyone in the UFC looking. I’ll be ready to go in a week, in two weeks, in four. Find the biggest, deadliest lightweight monster you can find – because I’m a lightweight guy – and I’ll go out there and dismantle them. Dig me up the biggest monster you can find, and I’ll put them away in two.”
How well will the Welshman fare in the UFC? Will his dominance continue?
