Linda Noskova beat countrywoman Karolina Muchova in three sets to become the third Czech woman in four years to win at Wimbledon. The following day, Jannik Sinner overcame a set deficit to defeat Alexander Zverev to become the 10th man in the Open Era to defend the title in the tournament.

Late into the night, Sinner and Noskova danced to Justin Timberlake‘s Can’t Stop the Feeling! That dance, Theodora Petalas, the ex-girlfriend of Stefanos Tsitsipas, couldn’t watch.

I’m like, what is going on? And then she like awkwardly goes in for a hug in the end, no, no, no. I saw it this morning, and I was like I can’t watch it.

Theodora Petalas said on the What’s The Call podcast

Noskova attended the traditional ball for the first time, but Sinner had already experienced it before this year. After defeating Carlos Alcaraz in four sets last year, Sinner danced with Iga Swiatek, who clinched a shock double-bagel win over Amanda Anisimova to end her title drought.

While Noskova clinched her second grass-court title at Wimbledon, Sinner won his third title on the surface. Before Wimbledon, the 21-year-old beat Jessica Pegula in the Berlin Open final to win her career’s first title on grass.

Noskova had made just one Grand Slam quarterfinal before this season. But Sinner took home his career’s fifth Grand Slam trophy. This year at the Australian Open, Sinner’s run ended with a five-set defeat to eventual runner-up Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.

Then, at the French Open, the 24-year-old suffered a second-round upset at the hands of Juan Manuel Cerundolo. The Wimbledon title was Sinner’s sixth title of the season after his wins in the first five Masters 1000s of the season (Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Monte Carlo, and Rome).

Patrick Mouratoglou says Jannik Sinner was very average during the Wimbledon final

En route to his victory at the All England Club, Jannik Sinner was broken only during his first-round match against Miomir Kecmanovic. It was also the only match where the World No.1 lost two sets.

Sinner even clinched a quick straight-set win over his semifinal opponent, Novak Djokovic. His game in the final, however, was called average by Serena Williams‘ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou.

It wasn’t Jannik at his very best… yet he still had plenty in reserve. Here’s why! It was not a great Jannik Sinner, and imagine he won a Grand Slam. This Sinner, if you compare his usual level in the last months to his level during Wimbledon, I would say he was at 65% to 70%. I felt that he was not very confident. Yes, he had a very big disappointment at Roland Garros, but it’s not that he didn’t play well.

Patrick Mouratoglou said on Instagram

Sinner is next expected to play the Canadian Open, where he won the title back in 2023 but skipped the tournament last year. Last year in Cincinnati, he failed to defend his title, handing the walkover to Carlos Alcaraz.

And before that, he won a number of matches without losing one. So, he should be super confident. In the final, he missed so many forehands, and he was moving backwards, usually, he always goes forward. On the returning side, he was not as good. Even though he was very average, I think it is going to be very useful for the future for him to know that he can win a Grand Slam being at 70% in terms of his quality of tennis.

Patrick Mouratoglou added

Sinner is on a 34-match winning streak in the Masters 1000s. The streak started at the 2025 Paris Masters. If he wins in Montreal, Cincinnati, Shanghai, and Paris, he will become the first player to complete the Golden Masters.
