He had a late bloom to his fighting career but UFC Megastar Jorge Masvidal made the most of his opportunity to let the world be known of his name when stardom knocked on his name. To such an extent that the UFC made a separate belt for his fight that he conquered by defeating Nate Diaz, Masvidal’s value in the company has some uniqueness that is quite unmatched. For someone who started off as a street fighter in his combat sports journey almost two decades ago, Masvidal is the pristine example of consistency leading to success.
Not only that, the Miami, Florida, USA native has fought the who’s who in his MMA career spanning across 50 professional fights and scored incredible victories against Darren Till, Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, Donald Cerrone, Tim Means, Jake Ellenberger, Michael Chiesa, Yves Edwards and Joe Lauzon. Masvidal as of now is hands down one of the best strikers in the welterweight division of the UFC.

MMA Legend Chael Sonnen recently reacted to the confirmation of Masvidal fighting his best friend-turned-bitter rival Colby Covington at UFC 272. The beef between Masvidal and Covington involves 8 years of friendship followed by little hassle between the two finally leading up to making off a massive fight that eventually led Covington to leave the gym where Masvidal still trains.
Sonnen was all in for paying Masvidal huge respects for taking up the Covington fight. “In all fairness, I really got to show respect to Masvidal because this is a career-ending fight, it is that big of a deal,” said Sonnen. “It is that big of a deal, there will be that much attention, and that much focus and that much hatred going into the battle…”
“… Jorge who’s the second biggest star in combat right now, who’s coming off of 2 defeats, if he goes out there and gets taken down and is mauled for 25 minutes, it is going to take a lot of lustre of the shine that is the sports second biggest draw Jorge Masvidal. It’s a big deal and Jorge signed up anyway, God damn I respect that!”
