The 2023/24 Premier League season ended with heartbreak for Arsenal and their supporters. Manchester City ran away with the Premier League title once again despite Mikel Arteta and co. putting up an unbelievable fight with an 89-point season.
Out of all Arsenal players, midfielder Thomas Partey is likely to have suffered the most. The Ghanaian was out for several months this season due to a recurring hamstring injury.
A frustrating season was set straight by a heartwarming moment for the player, as Partey and his girlfriend shared pictures of them getting engaged. Pictures shared on Janine Mackson‘s Instagram show the couple in an intimate set-up, in which one picture features the Arsenal star putting a ring on her finger.
Partey and Janine have been together for over two years and recently welcomed their first child in January. Janine is a model and social media influencer born in Britain. She is also believed to be of African descent.
Prior to his meeting with Janine, Partey was in a relationship with Sara Bella for over a year. The same came to an end due to legal disputes following which he met and fell in love with Janine.
Thomas Partey set to leave Arsenal after heartbreaking season
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey was brought to the club in 2020, after the Gunners paid €50 million to acquire his services. Arriving from Atletico Madrid, the Ghanaian lived up to his reputation before quickly falling prey to his injury-prone nature. In his four years at the club, Partey has made 95 Premier League appearances, scoring 5 goals and setting up another 3.
In all competitions, the 30-year-old has had 115 outings for the Gunners. As of now, Partey is on his way out of the club according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Despite him being linked with a transfer, the player had posed for pictures wearing the club’s new home kit for the upcoming season. Many felt that the club were making a mistake by ‘selling’ Partey, but opting to offer Jorginho a contract extension.
Partey still has a year left on his contract signed in 2020 and earns an average annual salary of $10,400,000. As far as replacements go, Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes have been shortlisted by the club. With Partey playing only a ‘cameo’ role in midfield this season, it is safe to say that Arsenal can part ways with him without losing much sleep.
