Thursday Night Football Week 8: Where and How to Watch Carolina Panthers vs. Green Bay Packers, Live Stream, and Broadcast Details

The 4-3 Green Bay Packers will host the 3-3 Carolina Panthers on Thursday, October 29. It’s a chance for either side to bounce back from disappointing Week 7 defeats to rival clubs.

The Panthers welcomed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Bank of America Stadium last Sunday. The Panthers were favored to win despite Baker Mayfield’s return at quarterback for the Bucs. The Bucs didn’t really need Mayfield to go all out. The running backs did all the heavy lifting.

Bucky Irving had 24 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Sean Tucker and Kenneth Gainwell combined for 21 carries, 140 yards, and one touchdown. Mayfield finished with 7 completions for 64 yards and threw one touchdown pass to Tez Johnson.

In reply, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young completed 14 of 27 passes for 163 yards, one touchdown, and 2 interceptions. Panthers head coach Dave Canales benched Young in the final quarter as they trailed by 37 points. Kenny Pickett stepped in and completed 3 passes for 47 yards. The Panthers lost 43-13. Tight end Darren Waller scored the only Carolina touchdown.

The Packers traveled to Ford Field to play NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions. Jordan Love completed 27 of 45 passes for 274 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Running back Josh Jacobs returned from the commissioner’s exempt list to rack up 16 touches on the ball for 91 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Christian Watson caught 5 passes for 57 yards. The Packers lost 20-17.

The Packers slipped to the bottom with the defeat while the Panthers lead the NFC South with a .500 record. The Packers lead the series 12-7 (including playoffs). This fixture was last played in November 2025. Both Young and Love threw one interception each. Rico Dowdle (now with the Steelers) rushed for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Panthers. Carolina won the contest 16-13.

Why can the Packers win?

Love has been on great form. He led the Packers to three straight victories over the Buccaneers, Bears, and Cowboys before Sunday’s loss in Detroit. Love has thrown 162 completions for 1958 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.

With Josh Jacobs back in the fold, the Packers’ run game should experience a boost. Jacobs has racked up over 2,200 yards and 31 touchdowns since joining Green Bay in 2024.

WR Christian Watson is finally stringing together some great numbers. He has 34 receptions, 595 yards, and 5 touchdowns in seven games.

The Packers also boast the 13th-best defense. They have averaged 323 yards and conceded 18 touchdowns.

Why can the Panthers win?

Excluding the defeat to the Bucs, Bryce Young is playing the best football of his NFL career. The former Alabama star wrestled with being a bust for a long time before delivering statement performances. His rise began toward the end of the last campaign when the Panthers won the South and qualified for the playoffs. So far, Young has recorded 1,712 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns, and 4 interceptions.

Tetairoa McMillan leads the Panthers’ receivers with 36 receptions for 511 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running back Chuba Hubbard has 96 carries for 459 yards and 4 touchdowns.
