As the NFL season kicks into Week 6, the Green Bay Packers are somehow holding on to the first Wild Card spot in the tightly contested NFC. It could have been better had they had star running back Josh Jacobs to pound the ball on the ground.

The 28-year-old has been his consistent self since signing a four-year, $48 million contract after leaving the Las Vegas Raiders. Had he not missed two games last season, he may have rewarded the franchise with another 1000-yard season.

Without him featuring this season, the Packers have put together the worst rushing attack of any team. The fact that they have managed to hold on for three wins out of five is a testament to how the offense is playing.

But they would prefer it if Jacobs were there to help push the line to win more consistently. Every game counts, and the only leeway they can think of in Week 6 is that they will face a struggling Dallas Cowboys defense.

That is because by Week 7, they should get their No. 1 rusher back after it was revealed that the NFL removed the Alabama alum from the Commissioner’s Exempt list.

This comes on the back of a continued investigation into five domestic battery-related charges he faces for an incident in May this year. The Packers have supported Josh Jacobs as he pled no contest.

Fans tear into NFL for allowing Josh Jacobs to return to play

The problem fans have with this decision is that law enforcement is still investigating the misdemeanor charges levied against Josh Jacobs. He may have filed a civil lawsuit to stop evidence being released publicly, but that is why fans felt that the league should not have let him off the hook.

Fans argued that his attempts to block evidence from being released are enough indication that he is guilty. The NFL should not have allowed him to return to the field and earn his paycheck with him possibly looking guilty. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Josh Jacobs will be eligible to return to practice, which means he will suit up when the Packers travel to Ford Field to face the Detroit Lions. The latter’s defense has picked up pace, which means the rusher’s impact will be important if his team wants to avoid another loss to a Division rival.

Former WR slams Josh Jacobs for trying to save face after assaulting a woman

Football fans are not the only ones wanting the NFL to keep Josh Jacobs away from the football field. Former wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh said this while discussing the topic on Speakeasy.

You weren’t worried about the consequences when you were putting your hands on her, so don’t worry about the consequences that come after you put your hands on her. And if you didn’t put hands on her, everything I said don’t matter.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh said

The former Bengals wideout stated that the league might have already seen the video before the Packers running back filed an injunction. However, once others see it, it will make the situation worse for the league.

Other teams will keep a note of how the league probably gave Josh Jacobs a lifeline while other players have been punished. That could force the NFL to suspend him for longer.
