This past Sunday, Anthony Kim scripted an emotional comeback story in golf as he won the LIV Golf Adelaide event. On Tuesday, Tiger Woods complimented him and shared some warm words regarding him.
Kim, the 40-year-old, was once heralded as the “next Tiger Woods.” Following his sudden rise to prominence, the American international struggled with injuries. In 2012, he disappeared from the scene and seemingly retired from the sport.
During his time away from the greens, Kim struggled in his personal life. In 2024, he stunned the golf world by coming back to professional golf and joined LIV Golf. Following his return, he opened up about his mental health issues and drug and substance abuse.
The rust was evident on him. He struggled to have positive results in his first two seasons. In 2025, he got relegated from LIV Golf as he finished in the drop zone. He would earn his way back to the tour through the promotion event.
Before the LIV Golf Adelaide event, Kim was named as the newest member of the 4Aces GC. He had previously competed as a wild card player. With the departure of Patrick Reed, he took over his place.
The golfer continued his red-hot form and was on his way to his first top-10 finish in more than a decade. He started the final round 5 shots behind Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm.
As the two former major champions had a struggling start, Kim ran away. The 3-time PGA Tour winner fired 9 birdies and finished with a score of 63 in the final round. In the end, he won the event finishing 23-under par, 3 shots ahead of Rahm.

The golf world would celebrate his win. Many congratulated him on this victory and shared some emotional messages. 6-time major champion Phil Mickelson hailed him and called it one of the best stories in sports.
Woods, who had previously played alongside Kim, was asked about him on Tuesday. As the former World No.1 got ready to serve as the host of the Genesis Invitational, he would compliment Kim for his triumph.
We all struggle in life. The longer it goes, the more tough times you’ve had. But for him to fight through it and for Anthony to get to where he’s gotten to, from the low that he was in, is something that, as I said, you have to just wrap your heart around it.

“Yeah, this kid hit it so good. He was on an unbelievable run when he won at Charlotte, and we played each other — against each other at Congressional. He played unbelievable at the 2008 Ryder Cup. He had so much… pic.twitter.com/4i2if1ZaH4
This was Kim’s first professional win since winning the Shell Houston Open in April 2010. His first victory in almost 16 years saw him earn a massive jump in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).
Before the event, Kim was ranked 847th in the OWGR. With LIV Golf receiving some points from this season, the golfer jumped more than 600 spots and finished the day ranked 203rd.
Tiger Woods teases Masters Tournament comeback with 1-word response
As Tiger Woods prepares to serve as the host of the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club, there are some questions regarding his own playing future. While speaking with the reporters on Tuesday, the golf great teased about a Masters Tournament comeback with a 1-word response.

Woods has been out of action for a while. Following his last competitive start in July 2024 at the Open Championship, the golfer ruptured his Achilles tendon last year before the Masters Tournament and missed the major championship.
As he continued to recover from this, he underwent another back surgery in October and replaced his disc. While he has since appeared at the TGL and supported his teammates, he has not swung a golf club in competitive play.
When a reporter asked him whether a return at the Masters Tournament this year was off the table, the golfer gave a simple answer and said, “No.“

Tiger Woods: "No."
The Masters Tournament event is a special one for Woods. He claimed his first major championship at this event, as he torched the playing field and finished 12 shots ahead of runner-up Tom Kite in 1997. To date, this is the largest margin of victory in this major tournament.
His last major win also came at the Augusta National Golf Course. 22 years after his initial triumph, a 43-year-old Woods completed the “return to glory” as he won the event for the 5th time. It was the first time he won a major while trailing after 54 holes.
In 2024, Woods set another record. He made his 24th consecutive cut and surpassed Gary Player and Fred Couples for the most consecutive cuts made in this event at 23. He ended up firing a score of 82 and 77 in the third and fourth rounds, respectively and finished last in the leaderboard.
Whether he will play in the 2026 event is uncertain. Only time will tell whether fans will get to see the 15-time major champion teeing off at the Augusta National this year.
