Tiger Woods will not be competing in the upcoming 2024 John Deere Classic. The official field of 156 players was recently announced, and Woods is not included. However, previously at the 2023 PNC Championship, Woods stated his goal of playing “a tournament a month,” indicating his intention to return to golf after recovering from injuries.
At the PNC Championship 2023, Woods played with his son Charlie Woods, and the two tied for fifth place. At that time, Woods expressed his intention to play in one tournament per month, but that plan has not materialized in his 2024 schedule.
I think that the best scenario would be maybe a tournament a month. I think that’s realistic.

Tiger Woods missed the cut at the 2024 U.S. Open, finishing with a 7-over 147 after two rounds. This marked his 13th consecutive round of par or worse in a major, the longest streak of his career. Woods struggled with accuracy on his iron shots which is crucial for contending at Pinehurst No. 2 and needed 62 putts over the two rounds.
Woods missed the cut despite a special exemption from the USGA to play in the tournament. This was his fourth missed cut in his last five appearances at the US Open. Woods has now planned to play in The Open at Royal Troon Golf Course in Scotland which will be his final tournament of the season.
2024 John Deere Classic Field
The 2024 John Deere Classic will be held from July 4-7 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. The tournament offers a purse of $8 million, with the winner taking home $1.44 million and 500 FedEx Cup points.
The field for the event features 156 players, including six of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings. Defending champion Sepp Straka (+1600) will look to become the first player since Steve Stricker (2009-2011) to successfully defend his title at the John Deere Classic.
The tournament will feature a cut after 36 holes, with the top 65 players and ties advancing to the weekend. The top two finishers who are not already qualified will earn spots in the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon.
