While Tiger Woods may not have won on the golf course in a long time, he keeps on winning off the course. On Monday, it was revealed that he had once again topped the PGA Tour’s Player Impact Program (PIP) and earned $10 million from the $50 million payout. This win of him has left the fans furious on social media.
In 2021, the PGA Tour introduced the PIP. Players are rewarded based on their impact on the tour’s popularity and revenue. Woods had previously finished on top of this program in 2021 and 2022 before finishing second to Rory McIlroy in 2023.
In 2024, Woods once again finished on top of this program. This comes after he played in just five official PGA Tour events in the year. His only cut came at the Masters Tournament where he finished 60th.
Off the golf course, Woods has been heavily involved in the merger talks of the PGA Tour and Public Investment Fund. Apart from that, he is also one of the six PGA Tour Player Director in the tour’s policy board which makes some important decisions.
The 82-time PGA Tour finished ahead of Scottie Scheffler. The current World No.1 claimed nine victories in the 2024 season and set multiple records. Despite that, he was unable to claim the top spot in this rankings. He though did receive another $8 million for his efforts throughout the year.

What do you think of Tiger Woods winning the $10M?
The PIP is supposed to reward everything outside of pure golf. The eyeballs, the awareness, the branding.

Fans react to Tiger Woods winning Player Impact Program 2024
In recent years, the appearances of Tiger Woods in official events had declined a huge margin. Since his car accident in 2021, Woods has missed several events. As a result of this, fans are usually interested to see in which tournaments he participates as he continues to chase a record-breaking 83rd PGA Tour win.

However, him winning the PGA Tour’s Player Impact Program has ignited some wild reactions on social media. Fans are upset with him for topping the charts after making just five starts in 2024. Reacting to this on X, one fan claimed that they don’t understand how this payouts work and wrote, “What a joke of a system”.
Here are some other top reactions from X below:
I don't understand this list! It would be better if there was some tangible evidence given to explain the positions and payments. Outside of that, it feels like money for nothing. What a joke of a system.

Respect to the GOAT, but it's ridiculous.

He only "moved the needle" because the talking heads on broadcasts and in the media refuse to stop discussing him and start discussing new talent that is actually showing up and winning.
What a joke

They should just start giving TW the $10 mil every year and announce somebody else as the winner. As long as he’s alive, he’s gonna win every year lol

Shocking. Love that Tiger is still taking away money from active players. Pretty sure PIP is set up to keep Tiger on the payroll .

Rory McIlroy finished third after topping this program in 2023. Meanwhile, Xander Schauffele, who won two majors in 2024, finished fourth and earned $4.5 million.
This was the last year of the PIP, as the PGA Tour are set to introduce the Player Equity Program (PEP) from the 2025 season. This will see all tour members being eligible for recurring equity grants.
