Tim Duncan has stayed mainly out of the public eye since retiring from the NBA after 19 seasons in 2016. Aside from a brief coaching tenure with the San Antonio Spurs during the 2019-2020 season, the NBA veteran has avoided public appearances and interviews, in sharp contrast to the present era of player podcasts and live streaming.

However, Duncan recently made a surprise appearance on the inaugural episode of the “Richard Jefferson and Larry Show” where he played a “start, bench, and cut” game with his options being Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James. Duncan gave a beautiful response which won the hearts of the NBA community.

On the “Richard Jefferson and Larry Show”, Duncan initially refused to answer Jefferson’s question.

I would start all three of them and cut and bench myself.

Given the tremendous careers of the three basketball giants, the question was difficult to answer. However, true to his style, Duncan handled the issue with respect and affection, providing a brilliant response.

Interestingly, Duncan himself has an illustrious career, with 5 NBA championships to his name. He is a two-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA Finals MVP, 15-time NBA All-Star, and the only player to be named to both the All-NBA and All-Defensive Teams for 13 seasons in a row.
