For the first time since her fairytale run at the 2021 US Open, Emma Raducanu was successful in winning four consecutive matches in an event on the tour. In the ongoing Miami Open, a resurgent Raducanu reached the last eight but couldn’t overcome fourth seed Jessica Pegula.
Raducanu arrived in Miami following her first-round defeat at Indian Wells. Before the Sunshine Double, the British ace registered three consecutive first-round defeats on the Middle East Swing and also suffered a panic attack due to a stalker during the Dubai Open second round.
Raducanu, however, didn’t let her mediocre performances and the distressing incident get the better of her when she entered the Miami Open. She breezed past Sayaka Ishii before registering the biggest win of this season by upsetting eighth seed Emma Navarro in the second round.
Raducanu then received a walkover from McCartney Kessler before knocking out this year’s Qatar Open champion Amanda Anisimova. When Raducanu was dealing with form and fitness isssue, she always found a supporter in compatriot Tim Henman who shared his perspective on what the 22-year-old should do to keep producing consistent performances.
The way she’s strung together these match wins is going to give her huge confidence and it’s just more of the same. She just got to keep doing the work in the gym and on the court and on the track and then when she gets out on the tournament stage, I think these match wins will continue.

Martina Navratilova urges Emma Raducanu to sort out coaching situation
Sky is the limit for Emma Raducanu if she continues to perform like the way she did against Jessica Pegula, believes tennis great Martina Navratilova. The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion lauded Raducanu for completing her quarterfinal match despite not feeling well.

Raducanu was feeling dizzy and faint due to the humid condition. She somehow regrouped in the second set but started struggling again as a result of which, she lost the match 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2. The home favorite then knocked out teen sensation Alexandra Eala to set-up final clash with World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka.
Although Navratilova praised Raducanu for her performance, she also advised her to solve her coaching problem. Raducanu recently split with her seventh coach Vladimir Platenik just after two weeks and is still searching for a permanent coach since Nick Cavaday quit her team due to health reasons.
I think she’ll move up the ranking well enough into the top 30. The biggest question mark is her health. Hopefully she can sort out her coaching situation because she’s been in a state of flux, but I think she needs to commit to somebody and stay with them for a little bit, and see how that works.
Martina Navratilova told Sky Sports
Raducanu will also return to the top 50 for the first time since September 2022. Tim Henman on Sky Sports, said Raducanu has the ability to get back in the top 20 if she stays resilient and keep fighting till the end.
How did Emma Raducanu fare on the clay season last year?
The clay season will start following the conclusion of the Miami Open. Last year, Emma Raducanu played just two events on the red dirt, the Stuttgart Open and the Madrid Open, where she failed to win more than two matches.

She skipped the French Open to prepare for the grass swing. Her decision proved helpful for her as her campaigns on the grass courts helped her rankings. She progressed to the Nottingham Open semifinal, the quarterfinals at the Eastbourne International, before advancing to the fourth round at Wimbledon.
