Kyrie Irving

The trade market in NBA is in motion again, after Kyrie Irving requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Several teams have expressed their interest in trading for the superstar player. However, it is also given that not many teams would want to give away good assets for a long-term deal with Irving, knowing his history of missing games. Brian Windhorst, the NBA insider, told Malika Andrews that Los Angeles Lakers want to trade for Iriving, but do not want to give him a long-term deal.

Over the years, Irving has developed into a superstar, however, he has also developed into one of the most unreliable superstars in the league. Addressing the news of the Lakers possibly making a move to acquire Kyrie, Windhorst said told that LA is interested to trade for Kye. However, the team is weary of giving him a long-term max contract. “The Lakers’ position from what I understand is that: They’ve been interested in trading for Kyrie Irving, but they’re not so sure about trading for him and being obligated to give him a $200M contract at season’s end,” Brian said.

From load management in his initial years to missing games for not taking the COVID vaccine, anti-semitism controversy, to demanding a trade request, Uncle Drew has been making them dance on his fingers. It is not only the Lakers that are circumspect in their approach to making the trade for him. Signing Irving long-term headache for the organizations, if things go haywire. However, despite everything, fans do want to see the LeBron-Kyrie reunion and see what it brings to the Lakers’ season.

Kyrie and LeBron

It is no big news that the Kyrie-LeBron reunion is everything that the NBA fans and pundits want to happen. However, the question still arises, can fans trust LeBron to trust and successfully handle the drama that Uncle Drew brings to the table? Over the years, it is clear that the only player who has come close to bringing the best from Irving is LeBron. Being a leader, James leads by example and holds his teammates accountable.

While Irving was in Cleveland, he wasn’t the alpha that he has grown to become over the years in Boston and Brooklyn. Being under The King’s wings, and having the utmost respect for his teammate, Irving blossomed exponentially. Since then his name has been associated less with basketball and more with controversies. Both the former Cavaliers teammates can perhaps make it work and bring the championship to the Lakers.
