Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin

Joe Gibbs who owns the NASCAR Cup Series team Joe Gibbs Racing and who is also a former Football coach seemed to be extremely happy and delighted with his team’s No.11 Toyota Camry driver and 2022 Coca-Cola 600 winner Denny Hamlin and the No.18 Toyota Camry driver and runner-up Kyle Busch’s performance at Charlotte as they took home the victory and P2.

He also said that it was an intense race and there were so many emotions throughout the race he also feels bad for his other two drivers No.19 Toyota’s Martin Truex Jr. who placed 12th and the No.20 Toyota’s Christopher Bell who finished 5th. On the whole, he felt the heat of the race and was glad his team could post three top 5 finishes.

It was definitely a long race with multiple cautions as many as 17th with numerous crashes including Kyle Busch sliding on the outside on lap 46 behind Daniel Suarez and Denny Hamlin too got caught up in a pile but escaped with slight damage to the front with 9 laps to go for the end of stage 2. The two survived another pile-up with just 2 laps to go forcing it into an OT making it the longest Coca-Cola 600 ever in the history of the sport.

“I’ve always said when I get the most nervous is when two of our cars are up there,” says Joe Gibbs with a sigh of relief as the race came to an end

Joe Gibbs was definitely terrified because the take-up after the final caution as a result of what took out both Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon might happen to Busch and Hamlin because neither of them was backing down and he was happy to see Hamlin bring home the win.

“I’ve always said when I get the most nervous is when two of our cars are up there late because both of them want it so bad. You could tell Kyle was after it, and Denny was. That’s your greatest fear. The restart before that the two lead cars took each other out. That’s what you’re so afraid of. To wind up with our two cars up there like that at the end, it was really special,” said Joe Gibbs.

Joe Gibbs also spoke on the success of the team as a whole throughout the season and he said that despite having a disappointing start with not many wins he feels confident and is really happy with the fact that his teams are performing well the last few weeks, he concluded by saying that the team has no started to gain and they hope to continue that.

“The wins, we got off to a slow start this year. We haven’t had the wins. I do think over the last three weeks we’re starting to find our way. I think with the new car it’s just a different package. Like I said, other people have done a better job than we did earlier. So, we’re playing a little bit of catch-up. I think right now, though, we’re starting to find our way,” concluded Joe Gibbs.

With Denny Hamlin winning the longest ever Coca-Cola 600, he looks forth to carrying this momentum ahead.
