Rise of criticisms against the Japanese government for pushing Tokyo Olympics 2021
Previously the foreign spectators were banned from entering the host country for witnessing the Tokyo Olympics 2021 to avoid the risk of contradicting mutated versions of novel coronavirus from other countries which may aggravate the present pandemic situation in the host nation and lower the chances for successful happening of the event.
The country is currently been heavily criticized by it’s citizens for still pushing towards conducting the games in this pandemic situation. With medical services and hospital beds being scarce for their own nationals, conducting games with overseas athletes and prioritizing their health over the Japanese populations is a luxury which the host nation can’t afford in difficult situation prevailing right now. The Yomiuri newspaper had previously reported the low inoculation rate among the Japanese population being the lowest among the developed nation.
On Monday the Nikkei paper published the results of the poll conducted for public opinion towards the conducting of Tokyo Olympics 2021 and it reflected about 60% of the total population voicing out for cancelling or delaying the Games which was similar to other polls conducted by various other media sources.
Previously the games were postponed last year with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. This time the government and International Olympic Committee have ensured the happening of Tokyo Olympics 2021 as scheduled between July 23-August 8, 2021 with all strict restrictions and regulations being followed.
