Tokyo 2020: Twitter ecstatic as Aditi Ashok produces India’s best-ever performance in golf, finishes just outside medal contention

India’s golfer Aditi Ashok just missed out on securing a historic podium finish in the women’s individual event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. After continuously finishing at the second spot over the last three days, the 23-year-old failed to clinch a medal by the narrowest margin at the par-71 Kasumigaseki Country Club
Nonetheless, Aditi has successfully produced the best-ever performance for her country in golf while securing the fourth position at the end of the final round. The world number 200 was continuously able to match the performances of some of the top-ranked golfers across the globe.
Talking about the final results, the Bengalurean golfer’s journey ended at the 2020 Games after carding a three-under 68 in the weather-hit final round here on Saturday. In the ultimate round, the youngster fired five birdies – on the 5th, 6th, 8th, 13th and 14th holes against two bogeys on the 9th and 11th.
Overnight leader and world number one golfer from Australia, Nelly Korda secured the gold medal. On the other hand, Japan’s Mone Inami (65) and New Zealand’s Lydia Ko (65) will compete in a play-off to decide the silver and bronze medal winners at Tokyo 2020.
