Tokyo Olympics 2020: Satwik Chirag crash out from group stages despite win against Great Britain duo

The Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have crashed out of the men’s doubles event despite a win in their last group stage game. Satwik Chirag emerged victorious against Great Briatin duo of Ben Lane and Sean Vendy by straight sets. The Indian looked in great touch but unfortunately their journey at the Games comes to an end.
The Indian duo were exceptional in their last game of the Olympics as they dominated throughout the game. Satwik and Chirag showed a glimpse of thebright future that awaits India in times to come. They will have to take the shock exit in their strides and continue to work hard on their games.
Satwik Chirag crash out of Tokyo Olympics
The loss of top seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sukamuljo to the Chinese Taipei pair meant Satwik and Chirag’s journey comes to an end despite their valiant efforts. The Indian pair lost only game in the group stage but lady luck chose to be not on their side at the quadrennial event.
In their last game, they lost to top seeds Gideon and Sukamuljo in straight sets. The Indonesian duo proved too good for the Indians who put their best forward but were no match for the world no. 1 pair. In a span of 32 minutes, the Indonesians clinched the game and made little of the World No. 10 pair as they won 21-13, 21-12.
Meanwhile, Sai Praneeth‘s chances of making it to the men’s singles knockout stages have ended after he lost his first match to Israel’s Zilberman. Praneeth has one more match left in is campaign but its result won’t affect his chances.
