Tokyo Olympics: Semi-finalists for Men’s Karate -67 kg Kumite tournament

Karate -67 kg Tokyo Olympics

After hard-fought elimination rounds, 4 athletes secured their place in the semi-finals, ASSADILOV Darkhan of Kazakhstan is set to face Da COSTA Steven Of France, and ALMASATFA Abdel Rahman of Jordan is set to face Eray Samdan of Turkey to fight their way into the finals.

Abdel Rahman Almasatfa of Jordan cleared his pool to get into the semi-finals

Almasatfa defeated his first opponent in the elimination round of pool B with 8 points over 3. He then faced Costs Steven of France in the next elimination round of pool B and won the fight with an advantage of 3 points. His next fight was against The Refugee Olympic Team’s athlete and he won the fight by 3-0.  In the final fight before the semi-finals, he faced and defeated the Venezuelan athlete by scoring 3 more points than him.

Eray Samdan of Turkey lost one, but came back stronger to secure his position in the semi-finals

His opponent Eray Samdan defeated the Turkish fighter in the first elimination round of pool A by scoring 6 more points than him. In the next bout he lost the fight to Kazakhstan’s Darkhan Assadilov, but he came back stronger in the next bout and defeated Egyptian athlete by 4-1, in the final bout before the semi-finals, he faced Sago Naoto of Japan, it was a close fight but Eray managed to get one more point than him to get the victory.

Darkhan Assadilov faced the Turkish Eray Samdan in his first bout and he defeated him by scoring 4 more points than him. In the next elimination round of pool A, he defeated Azerbaijan’s athlete with 6 points over 2. In the next round, he defeated Japan’s Sago Naoto with 3 points over 0. His next fight was against the Egyptian athlete and he defeated him with ease to move into the semi-final at Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Steven da Costa of France fought through adversities to get his place in the semi-finals

His opponent Costa fought in the pool B, and he lost the first round to the Jordan athlete with 7 points over 4, in the next round he faced and defeated the Latvian athlete with a massive 9 points gap. In the next round he defeated the Venezuelan athlete by 2 points lead, his next fight was canceled and he moved into the semi-finals.
