The duo of Pramod Bhagat and Palak Kohli have booked their place in the semifinals of the Tokyo Paralympics with a scintillating win. Pramod and Palak toppled the Thai duo of Teamarrom Siripong and Saensupa Nipada in straight games, 21-15, 21-19 to get a step closer to a podium finish.
Having got off to a rough start against the Chinese pair yesterday, the Indians were determined to get through to the knockouts as they went toe to toe with the third seeds. Pramod and Palak made a very strong start to the match, creating a wonderful lead of 6-3 before clinching the opening games.

The final group game which barely spanned half an hour saw Pramod Bhagat and Palak Kohli dominate with their creative shots. Siripong and Nipada fought back in the second game but in vain as the Indians were up to the task. From cheeky drop shots to fierce smashes, Pramod and Palak unleashed their entire arsenal to cap off a spectacular win.
In singles, Kohli made a strong comeback against Turkey’s Zehra Baglar in straight sets of 21-12, 21-18 causing a serious upset. The World no. 2 Suhas Yathiraj started off his campaign with a bang after a dominant victory over Germany’s Nikolas Pott. India’s Tarun Dhillon and Krishna Nagar also had a positive start to their Paralympics journey, as both of them notched a win.
