Tom Brady has set the bar for post-retirement fitness high with his recent Instagram post. The retired quarterback posted a picture of himself working out as part of a promotional ad for No Bull Project. The images left fans amazed because, at almost 50 years of age, Brady was aging backwards! Despite not needing to stay in NFL shape, Brady continues to push himself.

Amongst those left amazed by the pictures was three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano. He was impressed by the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s commitment to staying fit. Brady’s shredded upper body and toned legs served as inspiration for Logano, who gears up to secure his fourth title later this year.

The 35-year-old Logano heaped praised on Brady for keeping in great shape even though he has earned the right and freedom to let loose, and enjoy himself more. Logano believes Brady changed the way athletes approach fitness.

When you step back and look, it’s probably easy to look the most at someone like Tom Brady because he has done it for so long at such a high level, and the sport obviously changed over time, and his body changed a lot too. You cannot do the same things you’re able to do when you’re 25 or 30, when you’re 40-plus. So you’ve got to find your new way to stay on top for that long. I don’t see how that cannot catch your attention.

Logano said during his recent appearance on ESPN’s First Take.

All one needs to do is take a look at Brady’s infamous NFL Combine photo and compare it to his physique at 47. Fans would unanimously vote for the latter image as the better one, because Brady has aged in reverse.

Tom Brady’s discipline and commitment to staying fit are laudable

Note that Brady has had some cosmetic work done and may have even had some work done on his hair, but he did work hard to build his physique. The TB12 way of living may not give one a sharp jawline such as Brady’s, but it is enough to stay in great shape throughout the year.

Brady focuses on the foods he puts into his body. His diet does not include non-organic, non-grass-fed dairy products, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and refined carbohydrates in particular. The focus is on small portions of clean foods that fuel him throughout the day, not resulting in energy crashes during midday.

Additionally, Brady relies more on vegan options such as fruits and veggies, legumes, and nuts and seeds to supplement his nutritional requirements. Despite living a busy lifestyle, he makes it a point to be in bed by 9 p.m. latest and is up by 5:30 a.m.

For the 35-year-old Logano, this is inspirational because once an athlete enters their 30s, their training focus shifts from volume to efficiency. The goal is no longer to lift heavy all the time and spending hours together in the gym. The goal becomes, how does one reap the maximum rewards without risking injury?

Brady was able to play at an elite level till the age of 45, which is a feat fans will not get to witness anytime soon. Inspired by Brady’s success, other NFL players such as Caleb Williams are actively following a similar diet.

Logano is getting up there in age, but his peers are far older than him. Brad Keselowski (41), Michael McDowell (40), AJ Allmendinger (43), and Denny Hamlin (44) are all older than him. They have continued to compete at a high level, defying odds and proving that age is nothing but a number.
