The Washington Commanders have emerged as underdogs this season. Heading into the season, the expectations were not high from the team as it had a rookie quarterback in Jayden Daniels and a new head coach in Dan Quinn. But four weeks into the season, the Commanders sit atop the NFC East with 3 wins and 1 loss.
A big reason for the team’s success has been quarterback Jayden Daniels. He has quickly established himself as a candidate for Offensive Rookie of The Year candidate and has crept into the MVP race as well. However, despite his success, one man is not fully sold on the Jayden Daniels hype. Seven-time Super Bowl champion and FOX Sports analyst Tom Brady believes he needs to see more from the rookie before he can buy in on the hype.
The quarterback released his power rankings heading into Week 5 of the NFL season. The rankings are as follows:
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Minnesota Vikings
- Houston Texans
- Detroit Lions
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Washington Commanders are not on this list despite winning three consecutive games. This week, the team is set to go up against the Cleveland Browns. Ironically, three of the teams mentioned in Brady’s power rankings have the same 3-1 record as the Commanders.
Tom Brady heaps praise on Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels has 897 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception so far this season. The quarterback earned high praise from Tom Brady.
While Tom Brady has a degree of skepticism surrounding the Commanders, their schedule for the next 5 weeks says otherwise. The team is set to face Cleveland, Baltimore, Carolina, Chicago, and New York in the coming weeks.
Apart from the Baltimore Ravens, it can be confidently said that the Commanders are better than the other teams. Beating Lamar Jackson and Co. will be a challenge, one that will test the true potential of the Commanders. But apart from that matchup, the team can win the other ones.
At this rate, the Commanders have the potential to win the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles have had shaky starts to their season and have displayed a concerning pattern of inconsistencies.
If the Commanders beat the Browns this week, it is likely to make a convincing case for Tom Brady to believe that this squad is legit.
