‘Outrageous’ Tom Brady has almost the same number of playoff wins after turning 40 that Aaron Rodgers has in his entire career

No matter how much Aaron Rodgers tries to close the gap between him and Tom Brady, there's always a stat that increases the distance even further.

Aaron Rodgers will turn 41 in December, and he spent half of the year on the hospital table, rehabbing from an ACL tear. The New York Jets quarterback has ambitions of winning a couple more Lombardis to add to the one that has been collecting dust since 2011.

Even if ESPN’s 4.8% prediction for the Jets to win the 2024 Super Bowl comes true, Rodgers will still be miles behind Tom Brady who has seven. Although Rogers wants to close the gap between them, stat-wise, the Patriots Hall of Famer will be hard to catch at this point in time.

Former Broncos guard Mark Schlereth stirred the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) vs. BOAT (Best of All Time) debate while appearing on The Stinkin’ Truth podcast, calling Rodgers overhyped.

Aaron Rogers, a four-time MVP, one Super Bowl, right? We called the [Green Bay] Packers the dynasty that never was. If you invite the greatest quarterbacks of all time to dinner and there's, you know, it's like Thanksgiving and there's one main table and then the kids' table on the side, Aaron Rogers is sitting at the kids table.
Mark Schlereth said per USA Today Sports

It seems slightly harsh because Rodgers had the best passer rating during the NFL era (103.6) with a completion percentage of 65.3. and threw 475 touchdowns as opposed to only 105 interceptions.

However, it’s the postseason that counts the most where Brady has the upper hand, and not just on Rodgers but most of his peers. A recent study revealed that the 4-time Super Bowl MVP had more wins after turning 40 than Rodgers has in his entire NFL career.

Aaron Rodgers has played 21 playoff games, winning 11 (hasn’t won a playoff game since 2020). Brady, on the other hand, won four games in 2020 alone (knocked out Rodgers’ Packers) en route to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ second Super Bowl victory.

Most young quarterbacks model their game on Aaron Rodgers over Tom Brady

The current batch of quarterbacks coming through the college level grew up watching greats like Brady, Rodgers, Peyton Manning, and Ben Roethlisberger. While Brady, Manning (2), and Roethlisberger (3) all have more Super Bowl rings, FOX analyst Colin Cowherd claimed he knows several young QBs who prefer to follow Rodgers’ game over the other three.

You can’t find a single quarterback who says, ‘I structure my whole game around [Tom] Brady.’ I’ve never seen one, it’s fascinating… Aaron [Rodgers], I can name four off the top of my head.
Colin Cowherd told Nick Wright on his podcast

“In the veteran sports analyst’s view, Brady wasn’t naturally gifted as a quarterback but was rather mechanical. He excelled by being a clutch player and essentially became a cheat code when he played. Cowherd may have been trying to convey that Brady exemplifies what most coaches want their players to be, but the players themselves look at Rodgers or Brett Favre as an example.
