He has dropped only one set since arriving for the Shanghai Masters. That came in the Round of 32 against Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Since then, the Italian has won his remaining matches in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-4 win over Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals. During his on-court interview, he admitted that he was looking forward to the final.

This one here is also a mental week. I just tried to stay calm. It’s not every day it’s gonna be the same. So I’m looking forward to it. Trying to play every match I can in the best possible way. I guess that’s all I’m gonna try to do tomorrow and hopefully it’s gonna be a good match.
