Tommy Fleetwood has finally done it. After several heartbreaks and near misses, the Englishman finally claimed his first PGA Tour title as he won the Tour Championship. Following his win, Tiger Woods would pen down a heartfelt message to him.
The 34-year-old had been one of the top names on the Tour in recent years. However, before this, he had never won a PGA Tournament. This year, he came close on a few occasions to break that winless streak but ended up suffering disappointment.
At the Travelers Championship, he would suffer a crushing defeat against U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley. Despite scores of 66, 65, and 63 in the first three rounds, he ended up losing as he carded a score of 72 in the final round.
Fleetwood then had near misses in the first two playoff events. At the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, he finished T3, one shot behind J.J. Spaun and Justin Rose, who finished level on top with a score of 16-under par. Last week, he finished T4 in the BMW Championship, five shots behind Scottie Scheffler.
This week, he was once again in contention. Following a score of 63 on Friday, he was co-leading the Tour Championship at East Lake with Russell Henley. A 3-under 67 score on Saturday put him in the driving seat.
In the final round, Fleetwood went up against Henley and Patrick Cantlay. With 5 birdies and 3 bogeys, he managed to put a score of 68. This was enough to seal a 3-shot victory for him over his chasers and win him his first PGA Tour title.

On top of winning the Tour Championship, Tommy Fleetwood was also crowned the 2025 FedEx Cup champion. Starting this year, the starting strokes format was removed, leading to all 30 players starting the final event even-par.
Apart from his 1 win and 1 runner-up finish, Fleetwood made the cut in 18 of the 19 events he played this year and achieved a total of 8 top-10 finishes.
