Former NBA star Tony Allen has been building a podcast business after retiring from the league. So far, he has managed to bring in many notable guests and was possibly in Arkansas for a meeting with another.
As per dashcam footage obtained by TMZ, the 43-year-old was in a car that was pulled over for improperly changing lanes on an interstate. Once they came to a stop, the officer asked Allen and the driver if they had smoked weed in the car.
The latter admitted he had probably lit up a joint the previous night. The officer then asks them to step outside. While searching their pockets, they found a pack of wraps and another labeled as sour raspberry cinnamon rolls.
Once another officer arrived, the first one proceeded to search the car, and he found a grinder and a bowl. While this search was going on, the former Memphis Grizzlies star was heard saying ‘damn’ repeatedly.

Then the officer found a cigarette packet in the back pocket of the seat Tony Allen was sitting in. The pack contained a pouch with cocaine in it.
Once that came to light, the NBA champion guard started to take his frustrations out on the driver, claiming he had ‘too much to lose’ if those charges stick.
Allen claimed he should have just taken an Uber instead of traveling with the driver, as his reputation was about to be destroyed. Both the former Boston Celtics star and the driver were placed in cuffs.
Tony Allen tries to plead his innocence
Tony Allen was heard saying that he was from Tennessee and was just there to make deals about his podcast. However, by then, the sheriff had arrived, and the arresting officer was about to place the 6′ 4″ star in the back seat.
I Can’t Fit In There, I’m 6′ 5″!
Tony Allen said
Hearing this, the arresting officer chuckled as it was a bizarre way to avoid getting into the backseat of a police car. Then, when they calmed down, Tony Allen kept saying how those objectionable items found inside the car were not his.
He even claimed that he did not even know the name of the driver. The guard kept pleading that he had nothing to do with the cocaine and the other items, and swore on his mother that he did not go close to those things.
Even though the driver tried to take full responsibility for those charges, the Sheriff and his deputies informed the former New Orleans Pelicans star that they were taking him into the County jail. There, he would be charged with two charges of drug possession: one felony, one misdemeanor.
Tony Allen to be released on $1000 bond
Tony Allen was transported to Poinsett County Jail, where he spent the night. As per the Daily Memphinian, the podcaster would be released on a $1000 bond.

The 6-time NBA All-Defensive teamer will need a good lawyer to defend him in this situation if it goes to trial. Known for his hard-hitting analysis of today’s NBA, as well as his gritty style of play, Allen will be hoping the judge is lenient.
He played 14 seasons in the NBA, and was known for being the Kobe Bryant stopper. His exploits played a part in the Celtics winning the 2008 championship.
However, in subsequent years, the late Lakers great got the better of Allen when the two sides met again in the 2010 NBA Finals. After that loss, the guard signed with the Memphis Grizzlies in free agency.
There, his loyalty and drive helped them reach the playoffs in 6 straight seasons. That led them to retire his jersey earlier this year. However, it should have happened in 2022.
The idea was to retire his and then teammate Zach Randolph‘s jerseys. However, Allen was arrested at the time for his involvement in defrauding the NBA’s health and welfare benefit plan.
