AEW has been under a lot of flak in the past few months, not just from fans but also from other wrestling personalities. Eric Bischoff and Bubba Ray Dudley are infamous for their critique of the organization. Goldberg recently added to these criticisms, calling the company too cheesy. This remark provoked a response from AEW CEO, Tony Khan.
Tony Khan claimed that he met with Bill Goldberg several times, who was looking to work at the company. The AEW President added that he had several nice meetings with the former Universal Champion and was looking forward to working with him.
The AEW authority figure added that he still had a lot of respect for the wrestling veteran. He was simply taken aback as this was not the conversation he had with the wrestler. To conclude, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars clarified that he still really liked Bill.
There have been rumors about Goldberg making his AEW debut for the past 12 months, especially at All In. The AEW President even mentioned speaking to him at the Double or Nothing 2023 media scrum. However, nothing has come to fruition yet.
Tony Khan talks about his dad, Shahid Khan’s cameo on AEW Dynamite
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Tony Khan talked about his father, Shahid Khan, appearing on the latest episode of Dynamite. The AEW Head of Creative was recently attacked by Jack Perry, The Young Bucks, and Kazuchika Okada. The returning superstar attacked him with a microphone before the heel authorities hit him with a spike piledriver.
This led to Khan being forced to wear a neck brace at the NFL draft. Additionally, his father also came to check in on him in the ring. The AEW President mentioned that his father was not a huge fan of professional wrestling. However, he has recently become a huge fan of All Elite Wrestling and enjoys watching the product.
The 41-year-old added that he loved having his father at wrestling shows alongside him. The world finally saw Shahid Khan on AEW TV when he came to check up on his son at the end of AEW Dynamite. While the circumstances of his first appearance were unfortunate, the AEW president appreciated his father coming to check in on him. Khan added that fans were also really happy to see his father on TV.
