The second night of WWE Draft 2024 saw Stephanie McMahon return to the company for yet another on-screen appearance. And it goes without saying that fans were all for it. But not more than Jade Cargill, it seems. She was announced as the No. 1 pick for SmackDown last night, and she didn’t switch brands. The 31-year-old has taken it to X to express her gratitude.

The ex-AEW star was enchanted after being retained by the blue brand. However, Cargill was blown away by the fact that it was Stephanie, of everyone, who presided over the process. Every time the 47-year-old is around WWE circles, she lights up the ambience in a way only Steph could. Earlier this month at WrestleMania XL, McMahon made her long-awaited return to WWE to kick things off on Sunday.

Back in early 2023, Stephanie McMahon resigned from her role as chairwoman and co-CEO of WWE once her dad, Vince McMahon, weaseled his way back to the supreme hierarchy. It took a heavy toll on the backstage morale in WWE, as the talent adored having her around. Over a year has gone by, and she’s seemingly back in the mold. However, not in an official capacity just yet.

Only time will tell if the former Chief Brand Officer of WWE will hold any other administrative roles in the Stamford-based promotion. If she does, no one would be more happy than her husband and incumbent Chief Content Officer, Triple H. He had a wholesome reaction to Steph borrowing a line out of The Game’s playbook at WrestleMania. She got the crowd rolling, and what transpired after that is history.

Jade Cargill has a big weekend coming up following SmackDown retention

After getting that stamp from Stephanie McMahon, Jade Cargill is looking forward to her endeavors on SmackDown. Just days before WrestleMania XL, she ended up signing an exclusive contract with the blue brand after weeks of earnest negotiations by GM Nick Aldis.

He’d be so glad she didn’t move to Raw just a month after he fought tooth and nail to secure The Storm a deal lucrative enough that tempted her to put pen to paper. Jade has a huge matchup coming her way this weekend.

She’ll team up with Bianca Belair to take on Kairi Sane and Asuka for the Women’s Tag Team Championship. If the Jade and Belair combo dethrones The Kabuki Warriors on Saturday at Backlash, they’d be entitled to appear for any brand until they keep the straps intact.
