The NASCAR Cup series is going to the tough time, despite their consistent investment into making the sport the great product it was a decade ago. The issue with loss of top sponsors, the anti-trust lawsuit from 23XI-FRM coalition and the string competition from rival motorsports championship are factors of great concern for the team.

But regardless of the all the negative’s, ex-NASCAR cup champion and soon to be ex-team owner Tony Stewart has asserted that the sport is going to be healthy and will survive all the drama. But he and his tea Stewart Haas Racing, can’t afford to remain in the sport till the turnaround happens, hence they decided to quit.

It’s just a different time in the sport. The sport’s going to be healthy, it’s going to survive. It always has, it always will. But I’m happy at this point in my life to make this change. Like I said, it wasn’t that way at the beginning of the year, we had different reasons for why we had to shut down at the end of the season.

Tony Stewart said via Happy Hour Podcast.

He highlighted the chaos in the sport with the team owners and NASACAR fighting over revenue sharing as one of the major reasons for his departure via the Happy Hour podcast of Kevin Harvick. The veteran seems to be seeking more peaceful and personal time, with his family away from the NSASCSAR limelight.

As time’s gone on and watching the owners and NASCAR fight and just the chaos that’s going on over there, I’m fine being done with this at the end of the year.

Tony Stewart shares the recent time he spent in the SHR race shop

The 2024 NASCAR season has been tough for Stewart as he had to help his crew to secure new roles outside the team and losing the bond he had with people that has been with him for over 16 years are some of the unfortunate consequences of the decision. He was pretty emotional when he spent a whole day with them after the Talladega race taking it all in.

I literally went to Talladega, went from Talladega to Charlotte, spent the whole day at the shop, got to see as many people as I could at the shop, and knowing that when I left the building there that there’s some of those people that I’ve known for 16 years and I may never ever see them again, unfortunately.

The veteran seems to still find it’s hard to let go of the championship team he once built with Gene Haas, despite it being the right time for him to get out of it. It will be interesting to see how he will cope with everything once the curtain falls on the team.
